Subsystem & Davis West

In their new program MINUIT À SAINT TROPEZ, SUBSYSTEM & DAVIS WEST dive into the world of French Jazz & Swing – from Django Reinhardt to Boris Vian. The resulting music is a surrealistic collage, Faux Latin grooves mixed with noise improvisations and chamber music miniatures, a multicultural melting pot between Paris, New York and Berlin.
A first successful performance of the project took place in June 2023 as part of Berlin’s concert series “Encore!!! Django Reinhardt and French Jazz”, supported by the Berlin Senate.

Davis West is a Japanese-American violinist and songwriter who knows how to bring musical worlds together and is at home in jazz, classical music and bluegrass fiddle styles. Saxophonist Almut Schlichting and double bassist Sven Hinse have been active in Berlin for 25 years in the fields of jazz, contemporary music, performance and theatre music. They have been playing together in various bands for 20 years, including 10 years in the duo Subsystem.

With inventiveness, wit and virtuosity, the three musicians explore the possibilities of this unusual trio.
